Anchor's community is a unique mix from 45-50 different evangelical Christian churches within Lancaster County. We are governed by an independent school board which is not affiliated with a specific church nor denomination.
What kind of schools do Anchor students come from?
Students come from a variety of backgrounds including public schools, cyber schools, Christian schools, and homeschools with generally an even split from the three types of educational models. Students from each type of educational background will simply face a different learning curve as they learn skills to succeed in the university model. For instance, homeschool students will learn to be accountable to multiple teachers on a more regular basis than they may be used to. Students from a traditional 5-day model will develop independent learning and time-management skills.
I am homeschooling my 6th grader. what curriculum do you recommend?
Good question! It is beneficial to plan ahead. We have developed a list of recommended homeschool 6th grade resources which will equip your student to thrive when they enroll in 7th grade at Anchor Christian Academy. We commonly see weaknesses in grammar and fundamental math skills such as memorized math facts, fractions, and decimals, so it is helpful to focus on shoring up these skills if your student struggles in these areas.
What is the cost of tuition?
The cost of tuition is published each year in mid-February. Until then, refer to the previous years' tuition for an estimate. Anchor participates in the EITC program resulting in scholarship funds for many qualifying families who may not otherwise be able to afford a private education. See the tuition page for more details.
