Online Courses
Why Should I Consider an Online Course?
College Preparation: Most colleges are now offering online or hybrid courses to give flexibility to students and professors. The ability to successfully navigate and learn from online platforms is a specific skill-set that will be utilized in Anchor students’ college education. In keeping with our mission of preparing students for college and life, each student is encouraged to complete at least one online course prior to graduation.
Increased Opportunity: Since the joy of learning is a guiding principle of Anchor Christian Academy, it is important to offer a large variety of courses that will appeal to the individual interests and develop the unique talents of each of our students. The online academy allows Anchor to offer courses on an individual basis without the need for a minimum class size.
Schedule Flexibility: Not every student learns at the same rate. Sometimes students excel in a specific subject and require a higher level course in that subject than other students in their grade. Due to the limitations of ACA’s developing academy’s class schedule, the availability of an online course will allow these students the opportunity to participate with their grade level peers in their remaining courses while challenging themselves with a higher level course in the subject area where they are gifted.
What is Unique about Anchor Christian's Online courses?
Quality & Rigor: Our accredited online learning provider has collaborated with the highest quality online learning materials and programs in order to offer schools rigorous online learning based on current research and successful practices. Each course exceeds all national standards and recommendations. In addition to numerous AP courses, over 200 dual-credit options from Christian colleges are also available to juniors and seniors.
Biblical Worldview: In keeping with ACA’s commitment to curriculum that is fully integrated with a Biblical worldview, we have chosen an online provider who is dedicated to helping us fulfill our mission. Each course is completely infused with a Biblical worldview. All teachers are Christians devoted to developing disciples, but we will also have the opportunity to provide current ACA teachers for online courses, as they have the desire and capacity, enabling students to interact with their online teacher in person.
Partnering with Parents: One of the ways that ACA partners with parents is offering accountability outside of the family for academic responsibility. ACA’s administration will track the progress of each online student, providing weekly updates for parents as well as support and intervention if necessary.
Schedule
Full-time Anchor students who choose an online course to substitute for a typical Anchor course should expect to spend that period working on their online classwork. A quiet, supervised room will be provided. Otherwise, all online coursework should be completed at home. Half-credit courses can be scheduled over the entire school year, enabling the student to focus on those courses only on home campus days.

ACA’s online language courses utilize a myriad of various learning techniques to ensure that students develop not just the ability to read and write a language, but to also hear and speak. For instance, a close-up video of the pronunciation of sounds will assist the student in learning how to form sounds with their mouths.
