Homeschool Filing Instructions
As of 2019-2020, Anchor Christian Academy will be a registered private school. There is no need to complete homeschool filing unless you have a good reason for your student to remain homeschooled. Be sure to let ACA know if you've chosen to file as a homeschooling family if you choose this route.
If you choose to use Anchor Christian Academy as a resource school for your homeschooled student, you must be registered with your local school district. The supervising parent has the responsibility to file all necessary paperwork with the school district. These instructions will walk you through this process, but do not hesitate to ask if you have questions!
Step 1
File your affidavit, homeschool objectives, and medical records with your local school district. This paperwork must be filed before you can begin to count school days. If you are a returning homeschool student, it must be filed by August 1st. All forms are included in this packet.

- Complete the affidavit, with the supervising parent for ACA listed as the Homeschool Supervisor. The supervisor must have at least a high school diploma, however, you do not need to include a copy of your diploma because the affidavit is a legal document stating that you have it. The affidavit must be signed in the presence of a notary. Many school district offices will notarize it for you when you drop it off if you have a photo ID.
- Print the homeschool objectives, fill the blank with your student’s name, and submit with your affidavit. These are general objectives, which meet the requirements of the law. A more complete description of objectives is provided for parents through the course descriptions on our website. It’s important to note that you must file a copy of objectives, but are not required to meet the objectives. **Class specific objectives will be provided during the enrollment process.
- Medical records: School districts typically require evidence of the student’s immunization record OR an religious belief or medical exemption. While the immunization record must be submitted for ALL grades, the following grades also require other examinations:
- Seventh grade - Hearing test, Scoliosis test, & Dental examination
- Eleventh grade - Medical examination & Hearing test
Step 2
After the affidavit is filed with your local school district you may begin logging days as early as July 1st. Use 20 Day Log (linked below) to log summer educational experiences. A “day” should include a minimum of 4 hours and can be a combination of activities. Here are some examples of a summer school day:
